Return of the Living Dead

This movie is great, not simply because it's a zombie movie, but because it was so hilariously funny. Stepping away from the seriousness George A. Romero, creator of the whole 'Living Dead' empire, instilled into his original trilogy, director Dan O'Bannon built the film around the sheer improbability of the whole idea. What worked wonderfully was the bang-on combination of a downright creepy storyline and sidesplitting comedy. Not only do you get to laugh out loud in Return of the Living Dead, but you get to hear, for the first time, the zombies speaking. Just what kind of thing would a zombie say, you ask? Easy, anything he wants!!!
The captures the 1980's at their best with it's cast of punk-rockin' street urchins, who find themselves caught in the most unbelievably terrifying event of their lives. On a quest to find their friend Freddy, who aparently "always knows where there's a place to party", they soon learn that death isn't nessecarily eternal. Their late-nite graveyard drinking festival is crashed by slimy, putrified corpses clawing their way from their own deathbeds and out into the open world.
Filled with corny catchphrases and really cool lookin' zombies, Return of the Living Dead is a must-see for any zombie fanatic. Would I lie to you??
BEFORE YOU BOTHER: Return of the Living Dead is no longer being manufactured, so if you're planning on buying a copy for your Horror movie archives, you may have to hit the specialty stores and go into serious debt for it :(...Why is it always the good ones? (My sister tried to snag me a copy for Christmas and got the bad news). Of course, there's always dubbing, but that's illegal, and good boys and girls NEVER do anything that is illegal, right?? ;)
~ This sad news absolutely official as of December 12, 1997 ~
