Return of the Living Dead 3

This movie is a really good example of how things have changed in the genre since Horror's heyday in the 70's and 80's. The movie tries really hard, but just doesn't grab you like a good Horror movie will. In my opinion, it tries to be too trendy: making characters that people (mostly young people, c'mon, who else is watching Horror?) can relate to. There's a problem that goes along with this though: the 90's has been proclaimed to be the only decade as of yet that doesn't have it's own "niche" in history. If anything, it'll be known as the decade when the world finally went completely to shit. Unlike the 70's, and the 80's to some extent, "styles" have come and gone. The movie's setting and characters were probably pretty cutting edge at the time the film was made (1993) but in 4 short years, lots of things have changed, and the characters just look cheesy. At least when the films are really old, we can't really criticize too much, as everything is from an era we may not remember clearly.
At any rate, the movie follows the Living Dead plot rule: zombies are brought back to life, and damn, do they want brains!! This movie is unique however, as the zombies weren't accidentally released. In this film, the release was intentional, and done in the hopes of testing a treatment that science had come up with that could stop them once and for all, rather than just keeping them in captivity. A young man and his girlfriend witness the experiment, and are disturbed yet fascinated by it.

Later in the movie, the girl dies in a motorcycle accident, and the guy (completely distraught) turns to what he had seen earlier to "bring her back" (a la Pet Sematary). So he breaks into the lab (it wasn't guarded very well), lets some of the magic zombie mist get on her and bango! she's good as new...Big problem, though...She's a zombie and brains begin to look like more than just the stuff that lets you do mental math to her...

Now I guess that since she wasn't dead long, she wasn't a full zombie, and tried to "fight it" through most of the movie...She tried to convince herself that brains really wouldn't be all that yummy...Oh, but they look sooooo gooood!!!! This movie is far from a masterpiece, but if you like to see people eat brains, may as well see it with some '90's special effects (which I feel ruin the ambiance of Horror movies, but maybe that's just me ;)
