The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Probably one of the most frightening films of it's era, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre terrified it's audiences because, for the most part, it was a true story. No, there was no Leatherface (his character was based on several killers, including Ed Gein) but the what happens in the movie is said to have been taken from actual accounts, and pieced together into one really creepy story.
| Four young friends travel out to rural Texas to stay in a house owned by siblings Sally and Franklin Enright. Their ulterior motive for the excursion was to check on their grandfathers grave, as reports of grave destructions had been circulating around the area. Before they get to the house, they stop at a strange gas station, where the owner told them he was all out of gas and to check back later. They also pick up a hitchhiker who proved himself to be a few sandwiches short of a picnic when he begins cutting up his own hand with a switchblade in the back of their van. They throw him out and proceed to the run down farmhouse. | ![]() |
At that point, two of them leave to go look for gas, leaving Sally and her brother alone in the house. The couple see another house not too far off, and go there in the hopes that they can work out a deal for some gasoline, but they find themselves inside one of their worst nightmares. Leatherface captures them , cutting up the young man while his girlfriend Pam is forced to watch, hanging on a meat hook.

The daylight fades, and Sally and Franklin go out in
search of their missing friends and find themselves running for their lives, a maniac with
a chainsaw running closely behind them...Scared yet?? No, well, wait'll you meet Grandpa
;) This movie didn't really do much in the way of scaring me, as by the time I watched it, I had pretty much seen "it all" so to speak. My mom, however, claims she pissed her pants when she saw it in the theater 20 odd years ago...So, if you're a tried and true Horror freak, watch it only because you want to see a classic Horror film...If you're just a newbie, watch it because you don't really care if you sleep at night. Either way, WATCH IT!! It would almost be sacrilegious not to... |
