Arachnia,

I would like to joint the list of people who want to boycott trendy horror. I for one am glad to see that there are others out there like myself. I am so sick and tired of all this trendy horror crap that litters our film screens. I ask you, how can anybody think that this crap is scary? Let alone entertaining? Not I that is for damn sure. It all started with Scream. Damn Kevin Williamson and his black soul! He's the perpetrator. He's being coveted by Fangoria, as well as the "follow the trend" teenagers out there as being the savior of horror! What is that? Savior of horror? To my knowledge, horror never needed a savior right? All Mr. Williamson is (besides a hack writer) is Hollywood's answer to Puff Daddy. He takes what he wants from other films (better ones) and decides to pluck them into his own. Scream was nothing but a more (and I use the terms given to us by the UGH! media) "hip, clever, witty, stylish, smart, young, fresh, blah blah blah, we sound so cool" version of PROM NIGHT...a much better film. And to think that "fans of horror" are liking this? I don't buy into that. It's the teens they think of. Not the true fans who grew up on these films.

Williamson's writing is so blatantly overdone (do any teenagers actually talk like he writes them?) and his theft is totally obvious. I had the displeasure of being dragged to see THE FACULTY (an hour and half I'll never get back) and to see scene after scene copied from other films was disturbing to me. THIS IS THE FUTURE OF HORROR??????????? Do not mistake lack of talent for genius.

Also, I'd like to add that H20 was also a waste of time "trendy horror film". This was by NO MEANS a scary film. The lighting, story, writing, acting, and plot were terrible. And the ending? Jesus. What a piece of junk that was. Kevin Williamson (who did a script polish I believe) must have written that ending just to stroke his inflating ego. How else could you explain that? To say that Halloween's 4-6 never happend says COP OUT to me. And the magic LL COOL J bullet. Strikes him in the head, he's GUSHING blood and he comes out later with a band aid on???

And I wholeheartedly agree with you about the future. Do we actually want our children to say "Daddy? Mommy? I thought you said that these movies were scary!" What can we answer to that? "Well Tommy, they USED to be." We'd get answered with a shrug by the poor tyke as he stares at the breasts on I Know What You Did Last Summer, and is not scared at all!

Horror used to be a way to get out our fears safely. Now it's just turned into any two bit hack who thinks that he can sell a "teen slasher" (not like the good old slashers like Friday the 13th, no...these are forced to have a Dawson's Creek or Party of Five member amongst the cast) and make money off of it. This just cannot last!

I'm a screenwriter whose been kicked out of many offices for turning in what I thought would be scary ideas for films. But what am I met with? "Do you have anything that's like SCREAM?" That pisses me off! If the formula works, we'll keep it. but if it's new...oh no! Keep it away!

Sorry to go on with my rant (and I still could go on), but I'm just pleased to see that there are others out there who share my opinions and views. You want scary? See STRANGELAND. That original, scary, well thought out film was lambasted by critics and ousted from theatres to provide room for other "chillers" like Urban Legend. This is not horror. This is nothing but a tragedy. A big screen version of Party of Five or Dawson's Creek. Nothing good comes of this.

So it is with a proud heart and a firm mind that I agree of my own free will that I will gladly uphold and honor whatever actions we take on this matter. I am with you and the supporters one hundred percent. Thanks very much for bringing this matter to everyone out there in computer land this message. It's not just for the fans, it's for the survival of horror. We need to fear what goes bump in the night, and not whodunnit.

Let's change the Hollywood mentatlity from "TEEN ACTORS FOR EVERYONE!" to "LET'S SCARE THE SHIT OUTTA YOU!"

I REALLY love the fact you made a boycott on that trendy crap that they call "horror". It gives people like me and the many others to speak out at  something we so much loathe. I myself am only 19, but I will be damned if I don't apprectiate REAL horror. I wasn't around in the 70s and stuff but I got a pretty good collection and still working on it. I have multiple titles, I  have all of Romero's dead films, Fulci's "Zombie", Argento's "Demons", and   JUST ordered a copy of "A Nightmare on Elm Street", special edition, just to name a few... I also have "The Return of the Living Dead"...Zombie films are my fave..."Demons" scared the bejezzes out of me when I fist saw it, as well as the first "A Nightmare...". AND "The Return of the Living Dead" kept me up for months!!! :) Saw it when I was about 10 I think while spending the night with on of my friends...saw it late night on HBO...God did it freak me out!!!!*L* I did NOT at all like the other two to follow. I myself can side with Chris Love. For as long as I know and do not know how I did, I have and still am a fan of horror. It grieves me to see such films as "Scream", "Urban Legend", and so on be praised for something it is, personally to me demeaning. I think Mr. Love put it nicely when he comapred the whole thing to Puffy...He is for HipHop as Kevin Williamson is for Horror...It shames me and makes me more and more angry everyday. My lifetime goal is to make a horror film. And I KNOW it would be good. If I could I would love to try another installment of "Demons". The first is one of my faves. The second dissapointed me so I figure this would be a good chance to save face  for the film :) I remember being going to see "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer"  TOTAL suckfest '98!!!! I shake my head as I write this letter because it is more like "I Wish I Never Knew What You Did Last Summer". H20 was no picnic, either...I saw it and was not really at all satisfied. I will not bother with
the 4th Chucky movie because it does not appeal to me...The plot seems dumb and boring so I will not mess with it. WHYmust everything ALWAYS have to follow trends to reach the "hip, young, and energetic teen audience"? WHO CARES what they want? All they want is right THERE ON THE WB!!!!!!! Let them have their damn godforsaken Buffy and Dawson's Creek!!! Leave the horror to the real fans who love the genre for what it is...You tried to "experiment" and failed!!! LEAVE IT BE!!!! I have friends who aren't real horror buffs like me, but I be damned if they don't agree with me. I swear horror would
not be where it is right now had it not been for love of money and marketing. I am tired of having to rummage over the net and video stores to find a good real and true horror movie to buy just to get my entertainment. What I would NOT GIVE to havethe chance to give back to the people, to strike a blow against the mainstream that screams the message, "Screw you Kevin Williamson, we are NOT gonna stand for it ANYMORE!!! KEEP YOUR DAMN TREND!!!" Alas I will not give up, I will keep trying :) Maybe one day I will have my time to shine...Never give up hope. Maybe one day a real horror film willcome out that we can remember and know that it came from its original roots :) Well even if my name is or shouldbe on your list of supporters :) If you can give Mr. Love my props for standing up, as well YOU get MAJOR props for having it
as well and ANY OTHER SITE OR SUPPORTER out there who is listening... :) Please take care...

Don't forget that 'trendy horror' is just another offshoot of post-modernism. Whilst I won't go into particular detail, all I shall say is this. It's either a suicide note from left-wing academics without the courage to survive the fall of liberalism since 1979 or an excuse (concious or otherwise) to regurgitate old ideas because there's (supposedly) no new ones left. The odd thing is that post-modernism is dead, in academic circles anyway, but - because the centre is always slow to absorb new ideas - it still holds sway over the mass media. Now that IS frigthening!

Now if Romero gets round to episode 4...

Ur so full of shit

You say that all 90's slasher flicks have scandily clad teen celebs running around getting axed, well i think u must have missed the 80's buddy. In the 80's it wasn't a horror movie UNLESS a co-ed got naked started to fuck her boyfriend and get killed in the middle of it. Not many 90's slasher flicks have that. And most (with the exception of Ben Willis)

of the killers in 90's horror are different each time, not the same undead monster stalking co-eds after being killed in like 6 movies.

Hmm same stories that we've seen before? regurgitated u say? You must like the clones that Fridaythe13th and Halloween and NightmareOnElmStreet produced, which were made to produce more money. At least some of the 90's and I some of them were made to be good.

Now you do make a good point about the same people showing up in all of the movies. Neve has been in 4 horror movies and Jennifer in 2, thats it. And Buffy the Vampire Slayer is so not trash, It is way way better than the movie and by no means sucks( Neither does Sarah Michelle Gellar's acting so fuck u). By the way Neves were far far far superior to Jennifer's.

Horrible acting? Now I know you missed the 80's man. You want to see bad acting rent anything after Friday The 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street (And I dont mean sequels, but hey even most of them sucked)

And where do you get that sound track stuff man, i mean have you ever seen a horror movie with your "gr.7 music" on its sound track(although I am assuming you mean shit like the Backstreet Fags and N'Stink) cause if you have I want you to show me.

Oh and now that i re-read the Motel Hell review thing I can tell you it rips off Texas Chain Saw Massacre with a bit of Psycho thrown in for good measures. And Dr. Gore sounds like it took most of its plot from the Re-Animator. The Town That Dreaded Sundown is "Son of Sam" with a pillowcase on his head, put to film, not a really great film idea, as the '99 film showed.

I have 1 question do you hate CandyMan because it was made in the 90's?

You know were i stand back-up your boycott

Grosvenor:

Okay....Don't mind if I do!!!!! (Read on, kiddies, for the reply)

USUALLY, I DON'T START OFF AN EMAIL TO ANYTHING ANYONE'S ASKED ME ALREADY PITTED AGAINST THEM, BUT YOU ARGUED YOUR POINT SO HORRIBLY, SO BIASTLY, THAT I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO BE BIAS AGAINST YOU...

SO I DON'T FORGET ONE SINGLE SOLITARY REMARK THAT RAN THROUGH MY BRAIN AS I READ YOUR SORRY ASS EMAIL, I'M INCLUDING MY THOUGHTS INTO YOUR MSG IN CAPS.

If u didnt get my other msg here it is again.

Ur so full of shit

REALLY GOOD INTRO. THIS IS THE KIND OF PROFESSIONALISM SURE TO SHOOT YOU TO THE TOP OF THE WELFARE LINE.

You say that all 90's slasher flicks have scandily clad teen celebs running around getting axed, well i think u must have missed the 80's buddy.

BUDDY?

In the 80's it wasn't a horror movie UNLESS a co-ed got naked started to fuck her boyfriend and get killed in the middle of it. Not many 90's slasher flicks have that. And most (with the exception of Ben Willis) of the killers in 90's horror are different each time, not the same undead monster stalking co-eds after being killed in like 6 movies.

THERE WAS A REASON THE "SAME UNDEAD MONSTER" KEPT STALKING PEOPLE...THE FANS LOVED IT. THERE WOULDN'T HAVE EVER BEEN A "FREDDY'S DEAD" IF THEY HADN'T HAD TO KEEP KILLING THE MOTHERFUCKER. THE FILMS WERE MADE FOR THE PEOPLE THAT LOVED THE SERIES, THE MONSTER HAD BECOME A PERSONAL IDOL, HERO IF YOU WILL, OF THEIRS. GOD KNOWS I LOVED (NEARLY) EVERY NOES FILM, EVEN THOUGH THEY JUST GOT STUPIDER AND STUPIDER. HOWEVER, WHAT THE TRUE FANS LIKED TO SEE, AND WHY THEY KEPT SEEING THE FILMS, WAS THE EVOLUTION OF FREDDY. WHAT BEGAN AS A CLASSICLY TERRIFYING MONSTER LATER EVOLVED INTO A COMICAL, ALMOST ANIMATED CREATURE THAT EMBODIED A LOT OF THE 80'S CULTURE.

THOSE WHO HATED FREDDY AND THE WHOLE CONCEPT, DIDN'T SEE THE SEQUELS. IF THEY DID, THEY WERE JUST BEING TRENDY.

Hmm same stories that we've seen before? regurgitated u say? You must like the clones that Fridaythe13th and Halloween and NightmareOnElmStreet produced, which were made to produce more money. At least some of the 90's and I some of them were made to be good.

I DON'T THINK THEY WERE REALLY MADE TO BE GOOD AT ALL. PERHAPS I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER HAD SOME PROMISE, OF COURSE, IT'S EASY FOR ME TO SHIT ALL OVER A FILM THAT ALMOST ENTIRELY STOLE THE PLOT FROM A CHRISTOPHER PIKE NOVEL I READ AS A TWELVE YEAR OLD. IT WAS CALLED CHAIN LETTER, AND TRUST ME, THE WRITING WAS WAY BETTER.

Now you do make a good point about the same people showing up in all of the movies. Neve has been in 4 horror movies and Jennifer in 2, thats it.And Buffy the Vampire Slayer is so not trash, It is way way better than the movie and by no means sucks( Neither does Sarah Michelle Gellar's acting so fuck u). By the way Neves were far far far superior to Jennifer's.

"NEITHER DOES SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR'S ACTING SO FUCK U" - THIS, LIKE YOUR OPENING, IS SHAMELESSLY BRILLIANT. YOU'RE REALLY NOT TRYING TO HIDE YOUR PREJUDICES AT ALL, ARE YOU? LET ME GUESS, YOU HAVE PICTURES OF HER ALL OVER YOUR BEDROOM/LOCKER/PRISON CELL DON'T YOU? I'M NOT GOING TO ARGUE WITH YOUR POINT OF VIEW. YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE BEEN SUCKED IN BY MAYBELLINE'S POWER, BUT I HAVEN'T. UNLIKE YOU, I CAN RESPECT ANOTHER'S TASTE IN ACTRESSES. YOU THINK SHE'S PLUM DANDY, I THINK SHE STINKS, BUT I'M WELL AWARE I CAN'T FORCE MY DISLIKES ON YOU. YOU'LL BEAT MANY HARD STONES IN YOUR LIFETIME UNTIL YOU GET OVER THIS NEED TO BE AGREED WITH.

Horrible acting? Now I know you missed the 80's man. You want to see bad acting rent anything after Friday The 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street (And I dont mean sequels, but hey even most of them sucked)

HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY EXPECT THE HORROR FILMS OF THE 80S TO KEEP UP WITH THOSE OF THE 90S? TAKE A LOOK AROUND YOU, THE MARKET IS GO BIG OR GO HOME. IN THE 80S (AND EACH AND EVERY DECADE PRIOR TO THEM) DIDN'T HAVE MULTI-MILLIONS OF DOLLARS JUST FLOATING AROUND TO MAKE A MOVIE, HIRE CAST, IMPLEMENT EXPENSIVE VISUAL EFFECTS. THEY HIRED LOCAL "TALENT", MADE MOST OF THEIR OWN PROPS OR IMPROVISED, AND DID WHAT THEY COULD. HOPEFULLY, THEY'D BE ABLE TO MAKE ENOUGH MONEY OFF THE FILM TO MAKE AN EVEN BETTER ONE NEXT TIME. THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2 IS EVIDENCE OF THIS. IN THE FIRST FILM, YOU GET A REALLY TERRIFYING PLOT, WITH SOME MEDIOCRE ACTING, AND NOT MUCH FULL-FACED ACTION, MAINLY BECAUSE ITS TOO EXPENSIVE. THE NEXT TIME AROUND, TOBE HOOPER'S GOT A CONSIDERABLY LARGER AMOUNT TO MAKE THE MOVIE WITH, AND YOU GET BETTER ACTORS, BETTER SCREENSETS, BETTER ACTION SCENES, BETTER ALL-AROUND MOVIE.

SOMETIMES HUMBLE BEGINNINGS MAKE FOR A BETTER PRODUCT. YOU DON'T JUST WALK INTO A STUDIO WITH 30 MILLION DOLLARS AND EXPECT THAT YOUR FILM WILL BE GOOD JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE SPENDING SO MUCH. IT'S THE NURTURING OF THE CRAFT, THE BUILDING FROM THE VERY FOUNDATION, THAT KEEPS YOUR FANS ENTRANCED.

And where do you get that sound track stuff man, i mean have you ever seen a horror movie with your "gr.7 music" on its sound track(although I am assuming you mean shit like the Backstreet Fags and N'Stink) cause if you have I want you to show me.

FIRST OF ALL, WHAT DOES SEXUAL ORIENTATION HAVE TO DO WITH ANY OF THIS? IT'S EASY TO POINT OUT ONE WHO IS IGNORANT WHEN THEY USE BULLSHIT COMMENTS LIKE "BACKSTREET FAGS" TO CALL DOWN A BAND THEY DON'T LIKE. TRUST ME, WHETHER OR NOT THEY'RE "FAGS" HAS NOT A SINGLE IOTA TO DO WITH THE EXTENT TO WHICH THEY STINK.

I'VE SEEN PLENTY OF HORROR FILMS WITHOUT GRADE 7 TRACKS. FOR EXAMPLE:

THE HALLOWEEN MOVIES....UNTIL THE LAST ONE, THE TRENDY ONE, THE SOUNDTRACKS WERE ALL COMPOSED, INSTRUMENTALS. REMEMBER THOSE? WHEN *GASP* THE DIRECTOR OF THE MOVIE, ONE OF IT'S WRITERS (THAT WOULD BE JOHN CARPENTER, BECAUSE I'M SURE YOU DON'T KNOW MUCH BEYOND WES CRAVEN) ACTUALLY COMPOSED THEIR OWN MOVIE SCORES? REMEMBER WHEN ALL YOU HAD WAS SUSPENSEFUL LEAD IN'S, RATHER THAN TOP 40'S GREATEST HITS PLAYING AS MS. X GOT KILLED?

EXAMPLE NUMBER TWO WOULD BE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD. FILLED WITH EVERYTHING FROM THE CRAMPS TO THE JET BLACK BERRIES, THIS SOUNDTRACK WAS GEARED AT REAL HORROR FANS, NOT THE SNOT NOSED KIDS THAT COME AND GO AS QUICKLY AS THE TIDE ROLLS IN AND OUT WITH THE FASHION TREND WAVES.

MUSIC IS SUPPOSED TO BE USED TO ENHANCE A FILM'S CLIMACTIC POINTS. IT WAS NEVER INTENDED AS POSTER-MATERIAL, APPEARING ONLY TO DRAW IN FANS OF ANY PARTICULAR BAND, THAT WOULD BE A TOTALLY UNFAIR WAY TO ADVERTIZE A FILM. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT IT DEMEANS THE INTEGRITY OF THE ACTORS AND DIRECTORS AND WRITERS TO HAVE THE SOUNDTRACK APPEARING ON THE SAME TITLE LINE AS THEMSELVES. COME ON NOW, WHERE ARE OUR PRIORITIES HERE?

Oh and now that i re-read the Motel Hell review thing I can tell you it rips off Texas Chain Saw Massacre with a bit of Psycho thrown in for good measures.

SO NOW YOU'RE JUDGING MOVIES YOU HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN? YOU BASE THE FACT THAT YOU THINK MOTEL HELL RIPS OFF TCM, ONLY BECAUSE YOU READ MY REVIEW OF IT? GAWD, YOU ARE A SHALLOW-MINDED LITTLE SLUG, AREN'T YOU? SEE THE MOVIE, AND THEN TELL ME LEATHERFACE IS WRITTEN ALL OVER IT.

And Dr.Gore sounds like it took most of its plot from the Re-Animator

AGAIN, "SOUNDS LIKE IT..." YOU'RE NOT DRUNK, YOU'RE JUST STUPID! IF YOU WERE THE KIND OF HORROR FAN YOU'RE WRITING ME PRETENDING TO BE, YOU'D KNOW THAT DR. GORE WAS MADE ABOUT 30 FRIGGEN YEARS BEFORE RE-ANIMATOR EVEN BECAME A TINY LITTLE IDEA IN THE WRITER'S HEAD. (I'M REALLY BEGINNING TO LAUGH AT YOU AT THIS POINT)

The Town That Dreaded Sundown is "Son of Sam" with a pillowcase on his head, put to film, not a really great film idea, as the '99 film showed.

ACTUALLY, BRILLIANT ONE, IT'S NOT. DAVID BERKOWITZ AND THE TO-THIS-DAY-UNKNOWN KILLER IN "THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN" ARE DIFFERNT KILLERS. THAT'S A NOVEL IDEA, HUH, BASING FILMS ON ACTUAL EVENTS? WAIT A SECOND, I FORGOT. YOU PROBABLY HAVE NO REAL IDEA OF WHO DAVID BERKOWITZ S, CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT YOU SEEM TO HAVE LEARNED EVERYTHING YOU KNOW FROM WATCHING TELEVISION, RATHER THAN READING OR LISTENING TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T COME OVER TO WATCH POWER RANGERS WITH YOU. DAVID BERKOWITZ WAS A SERIAL KILLER IN THE SEVENTIES, WHO IS STILL ALIVE TODAY, LIVING IN PRISON. THE MOVIE THEY MADE RECENTLY CALLED SUMMER OF SAM DOESN'T HAVE A LOT TO DO WITH THE WAY IT ALL REALLY WENT DOWN, AND WAS JUST AN ATTEMPT AT CASHING IN ON THE HORROR MOVIE FRENZY STARTED BY SCREAM AND THE LIKE. IF THEY HAD REALLY WANTED TO MAKE A GOOD MOVIE, DON'T YOU THINK THEY WOULD HAVE MADE ONE A LITTLE CLOSER TO THE ACTUAL EVENT? IT WAS A GOOD BOOK, BUT I'M FORGETTING AGAIN THAT YOU PROABABLY CAN'T READ AND ARE HAVING SOMEONE READ THIS TO YOU.

I have 1 question do you hate CandyMan because it was made in the 90's?

NO, I LOVE IT. SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME. TONY TODD IS GREAT (HE PLAYED CANDYMAN, IDIOT, AND ALSO STARRED IN THE RE-MAKE OF NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, NOW YOU CAN PRETEND TO YOUR FRIENDS YOU KNEW THAT ON YOUR OWN), THE DIRECTING WAS AWESOME, AND I LOVED IT ALL AROUND.

SURPRISED? OF COURSE YOU ARE, LITTLE SLUG.

You know were i stand back-up your boycott

SLUG SLUG SLUG....THERE WOULD BE NO FUN IN THE WORLD FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME IF IT WASN'T FOR YOU SLUGS.

Arachnia,

sorry about that buddy thing, bad choice of words on my part.

ARE YOU SURE IT WAS A BAD CHOICE OF WORDS, OR JUST A REDNECKIAN SLIP?

I think you missed almost all my points, except the movie reviews at the end.

I DON'T THINK I MISSED A SINGLE ONE OF YOUR POINTS. JUST BECAUSE I DON'T AGREE WITH YOU, DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.

But those do seriously sound similar to other movies that I mentioned. And IKWYDLS sucked, I just mentioned it because its a "trendy" horror movie. No I don't have SMG stuff all over my room. shes hot, I just don't have her on my walls, and she isnt even a Scream Queen

OH, OKAY....IF SOMETHING SOUNDS SIMILAR TO SOMETHING ELSE, THAT MEANS IT MUST BE, RIGHT? I'M STARTING TO WISH I DIDN'T EVEN WASTE MY TIME WITH YOU...

AND WHY ISN'T SHE A SCREAM QUEEN? YOU SEEM TO LIKE HER, AND I'M PRETTY SURE SHE SCREAMED ONCE OR TWICE...WHAT'S YOUR DEFINITION? (I'M NOT SAYING SHE IS, I THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE TO STAR IN A GOOD HORROR FILM TO WIN THAT PRESTIGIOUS TITLE).

HEY, MAYBE SHE'S READING THIS RIGHT NOW AND SHE'LL BE SO FLATTERED, SHE'LL CALL YOU UP AND END YOUR LONELINESS.

You said that all killers/monsters were the same because people liked them, and where'd you get that evolution stuff? Freddy didn't evolve, he went spiralling down into a 2D character for the cash cow directors to make money off of.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, FREDDY DIDN'T EVOLVE????? WERE YOU ASLEEP, OR JUST NOT BORN YET?

IN THE FIRST FILM, ALTHOUGH HE'S SCARY AS HELL, HE REALLY DOESN'T HAVE MUCH SUBSTANCE TO HIS CHARACTER. YOU'RE GIVEN MINIMAL DETAILS ABOUT HIM AND WHY HE DOES WHAT HE DOES, BUT HE'S FOR THE MOST PART, JUST YOUR BASIC MONSTER DESIGNED FOR ONE THING ONLY: TO EVOKE FEAR IN THE VIEWER.

AS THE SERIES GOES ON, YOU GET MORE AND MORE INFORMATION ABOUT WHY FREDDY KRUEGER EXISTS BEYOND THE GRAVE. THE WAY HE WAS CONCEIVED, THE HORRIBLE LIFE HE LIVED, THE TERRIBLE WAY HE DIED...YOU ALSO SEE DIFFERENT SIDES OF FREDDY NOT REALLY EVIDENT IN THE FIRST FILM. FOR INSTANCE, FREDDY WILL FOREVER BE KNOWN AS ONE OF THE MOST COMICAL MONSTERS OF OUR TIME. IT'S ALL DARK COMEDY, OF CORPSE, BUT WHAT WOULD ONE EXPECT FROM A HORROR FILM? (THE ONE WHERE HE'S RUNNING BEHIND THE DEAF GUY AFTER HE'S LOST HIS HEARING AID IS CLASSIC).

I SUPPOSE ALL FILMS ARE MADE TO MAKE MONEY, TO A POINT, BUT IF YOU LOOK INTO BIOGRAPHIES FOR THE VARIOUS DIFFERENT WRITER/DIRECTORS THAT MADE THE MANY SEQUELS (BESIDES CRAVEN), YOU'LL FIND THAT IT WAS ULTIMATELY THEIR LOVE OF THE STORY AND THEIR LOVE OF THE CHARACTER THAT POSSESSED THEM TO INVENT SO MANY INSTALLMENTS.

I WOULDN'T HAVE THE ENTIRE NIGHTMARE COLLECTION IF THEY WEREN'T ANY GOOD, HONEY

Tell me your definition of Gr.7 music.

YOU KNOW, THE KIND OF STUFF THAT HAS COOL PEOPLE LIKE ME VOMITTING INTO THEIR PITCHERS IN ALL THE LOCAL BARS? SHIT YOU  CAN'T TURN ON A RADIO WITHOUT HEARING, SHIT THAT'S STUCK SO FAR UP MTV'S ASS, THEY'LL BE CONDEMNED TO STINK FOREVER?

That excuse for 80's bad acting was pretty poor. Some low-budget horror flicks with unknowns have been good, such as Blair Witch Project.

YOU THINK UNKNOWNS CAN ONLY BE GOOD IN 90'S FILMS?

JAMIE LEE CURTIS: VIRTUALLY UNKNOWN (EXCEPT FOR HER FAMOUS BLOODLINE) UNTIL SHE MADE HALLOWEEN A CLASSIC.

HARRISON FORD: WAS WORKING AS A CARPENTER WHEN THEY CAST HIM AS HAN SOLO IN STAR WARS.

OKAY, WE'VE BOTH NOW MANAGED TO PROVE THE POINT THAT JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT IN PEOPLE MAGAZINE, YOU DON'T NESSECARILY HAVE TO BLOW GOATS. HOWEVER, IF "UNKNOWN" ACTORS ARE SO GREAT, HOW COME YOU DON'T REALLY SEE THEM ANYMORE? HOW COME EVERYONE FROM PARTY OF FIVE HAS TO BE CAST IN EVERY SINGLE TEENSCREAM FILM?

Yes I know who DAVID BERKOWITZ is, why he killed the people during the New York blackout of '77.

AHH, BUT DO YOU KNOW WHAT KIND OF GUN HE USED? NO REASON FOR MY ASKING, BESIDES TO PROVE I'M WAY SMARTER THAN YOU.

Do you know who Pedro Lopez is since you seem to know your serial killers.

DUH....UM....JENNIFER LOPEZ' BROTHER? DON'T INSULT ME

Ya i know Tony Todd played Ben In NOTLD '90, and that in the '90's version he becomes zombie after he's shot not just a dead guy who burnt right away. Why'd you even bring him up.

SHIT, THAT IS AN EXTREMELY GOOD QUESTION...COULD IT BE BECAUSE HE WAS CANDYMAN, YOU SLUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ASKED IF I HATED CANDYMAN BECAUSE IT WAS MADE IN THE 90S. I MENTIONNED TONY TODD BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, HE STARRED IN IT AND ALL.

If there were no people like you in the world who would blame the media for all of todays violence, SLUT

WHERE DID I SAY I BLAMED THE MEDIA FOR ALL OF TODAY'S VIOLENCE? PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH NOW, SLUG? IF THAT WERE WHAT I BELIEVED, I'D HAVE A HELL OF A LOT OF EXPLAINING TO DO, CONSIDERING HORROR IS ALL I'LL WATCH.

I DON'T BLAME THE MEDIA FOR VIOLENCE. I BLAME IT FOR BLAND, TASTELESS, HEARTLESS, SOULLESS, POPULARIZED VIOLENCE.

AND I BLAME THE MEDIA (AND YOUR PARENTS) FOR CRETINS LIKE YOU.

As for the Child's Play movies, I found them entertaining and fresh. Well, at least in the beginning. Again and again and again, however, is just too much! The final sequel was great, though, I'm just smitten with Tiff! True, the first one was pretty entertaining.  I tried to watch the second and third, but they didn't hold my interest.  Wonder when Sam Raimi will
make another horror film?  :-)

I am anxiously awaiting Rob Zombie's "House of 1000 Corpses"!  I took my son to see him in March of '99 (my kid's first rock concert), and it was hands down the BEST rock horror show I've ever witnessed.  And I've seen Black Sabbath, Ozzy, BOC, Type O Negative, Iron Maiden, Slayer... Rob had giant robots, demons, Satan, nazi go-go girls, rotting corpses, flames, and best of all, a dancing Charlie Manson :-)  If you didn't catch one of the shows on that tour, by all means -- catch the next one.  I didn't go to Ozzfest -- I don't know that Rob's stage show would go off as well in the daylight; a few people who saw it said it paled in comparison to his arena tour.  I read that his stage production was so elaborate that he only 'broke even' when the Korn/Rob Zombie tour was over... but he said he'd never change a thing. I hope he goes all out for the next tour as well!

I'm really glad you've taken it upon yourself to show your part of the younger generation that it isn't "size" that counts. It's what you DO with it.

My personal rule is, big budget = crap.  There are a few exceptions ("The Exorcist", "The Omen"), but by and large, all the best horror films are independent, low budget, and have an unknown (expendable, hehehe) cast.

My Mom kind of did the same with me as a little kid -- she'd let me stay up late and watch 50s classics like "The Thing" and "The Blob" on tv.  Though Mom could never sit through a "Dawn of the Dead" or "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", she's the one who introducted me to horror movies and books.   I  had to wait to see most of the classic 60s-70's horror flicks... my
parents never dreamed of taking their 3 little girls to see "The Last House of the Left"  ;-)   Just as I turned 16 and got my driver's license, the new wave or horror came out -- "Halloween", "Friday the 13th", "Prom NIght", "The Howling", "American Werewolf"... the local drive-in played double and triple bill horror, and one night I saw "Phantasm", "The Boogie Man", and "Last House on the Left"... I was fucked up for a week (thanks in part to my best  friend's brother's homegrown).

It's just way cool that all these years later, those movies that were nearly impossible to see sit in my video and DVD cabinet.  One night in '81, I drove an hour to Columbus, in rain & sleet, to see "Dawn of the Dead" at the Midnight Movies.  It was my first viewing, and still probably the single greatest movie experience of my life.

Okay, I'll wrap this puppy up -- but I must ask 2 questions: what did you think of "The Blair Witch Project"?  I loved it.  And, have you read Poppy Z. Brite?  I just finished "Exquisite Corpse" and my soul STILL feels dirty!
;-)

Jezebel, aka, Jean Bailey

I'd just like to say that i loved horror from the 60's hammer horror to the 80's slashers and chewers(zombies chew). My mother used to let me watch the hammer films on friday and saturday nights when i was growing up, because she thought they were ok, she nurtured my love of horror going so far as to take me to the theatre in second grade to see Friday the 13th part 4. now i sit here and watch the tripe that passes for horror now and i want to cry.

it seems that everyone has forgotten the true meaning of horror is to scare the bejeezus out of you to the point that sleep is out of the question for that night. and i remember the plot not being that important or the effects not overshadowing the acting (i actually lost sleep over the evil baby from "it's alive")but now its all about special effects and the hottest actors, i'm sad to say even some of the classics have joined the darkside, (if you haven't seen "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation" starring Mathew McConaghey(sp?) save your money they made leatherface into a sissy that doesn't even kill anyone, he just prances around in women's clothing.)personally i hope that Rob Zombie's HO1000C's saves us. currently i'm wondering what "hollywood" is going to do with the "Resident Evil" movie, now that George(all hail the horror master)Romero has been 86ed from the director's chair(i predict Britney Spears in the lead as SMG is too busy at the WB). and just to let you know, i too adored "Strangeland" and "Bride of Chucky" i'm just upset that "Son of Chucky" will never be made thanks to all the little "screamettes" that don't know what real horror is about.
